Time to lodge new objections! (5/3/14)

Early in 2014 the owners of the Palace Theatre site lodged a new Planning Permit Application. This included a revised proposal for the hotel design which still blatantly flaunted height setbacks and restrictions applicable to the site.

So it is time again to start mailing in objection letters. Whilst our arguments are still largely on the same grounds, the application now has a new reference number which renders all previous objections invalid.

Please print the attached document, fill it out and send it in to Melbourne City Council. This is no longer a State matter due to the reduced scale of the project, thus the Planning Minister does not make the decision.

I strongly believe that The Palace Theatre should be preserved as the Historical Melbourne Icon Entertainment venue that it is, There is no other venue in Melbourne like it left.

Leave it alone. There are enough apartments in Melbourne. Don’t tear down a magnificent old building for more. This building is an icon in Melbourne!
